Canaan launches 2.5 MW Bitcoin mining pilot project in Canada
Jinse Finance reported that Canaan has launched a 2-megawatt pilot project in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to conduct bitcoin mining operations powered by stranded natural gas. The mining hardware manufacturer announced on Monday that it is collaborating with Calgary-based Aurora AZ Energy Ltd. to advance the deployment of this project. The project will convert natural gas that would otherwise be flared or left idle into electricity, directly powering bitcoin mining operations at the oil and gas wellhead. This 2.5-megawatt offsite location will deploy 700 units of Canaan’s latest Avalon A15 Pro miners—valued at over $2 million—and will also be equipped with containerized data modules.
