ECB's Nagel: German Government's Fiscal Spending Plans Are Warranted by "Unprecedented Circumstances"
ECB’s Nagel Supports Germany’s Increased Fiscal Spending
Joachim Nagel, a member of the European Central Bank’s Governing Council and president of the German Bundesbank, expressed his approval of the German government’s decision to boost spending. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Nagel emphasized that the current global situation is highly unusual, making such a substantial fiscal initiative necessary.
He explained that the expanded budget is justified not only by the need to strengthen national defense, but also by essential investments in infrastructure. According to Nagel, these measures are appropriate responses to the extraordinary challenges facing the country.
