Trump rescinds 'Board of Peace' invitation to Carney as tensions with Canada escalate
Trump Revokes Canada's Invitation to 'Board of Peace'
U.S. President Donald Trump has rescinded his invitation for Canada to participate in his so-called "Board of Peace." This move comes just days after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney delivered a speech in Davos cautioning against economic pressure tactics employed by major global powers.
In a message posted Thursday night on Truth Social, Trump addressed Carney directly: "Dear Prime Minister Carney: Please let this Letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s joining."
Prime Minister Carney had previously indicated his intention to join the board, though he noted that specifics, such as financial arrangements, were still under discussion. It is understood that countries seeking a permanent position on the board are required to make a financial contribution.
