Currencies: The reason Trump favors a lower US dollar
Decline of the U.S. Dollar Under President Trump
Although President Trump frequently highlights America's strength, the U.S. dollar has been steadily losing value during his administration, according to The Economist. Recently, the dollar dropped to its lowest level in nearly four years when compared to a group of major currencies. Since Trump began his second term, the dollar's worth has fallen by roughly 12%.
Experts suggest that this downward trend may continue. Following Trump's sweeping tariffs in April, many investors rushed to protect themselves from currency risks, which led to a sharp decline in American assets and further weakened the dollar. Since then, market participants have remained cautious, contributing to ongoing pressure on the currency.
