Vitalik Proposes Major Reforms to Ethereum State Tree and Virtual MachineOn March 1, Vitalik Buterin proposed two major reforms for Ethereum's state tree and virtual machine on X. Regarding the state tree, he suggested replacing the current six-branch Keccak Merkle Patricia tree with a simpler binary tree via EIP-7864, and switching to Blake3 or Poseidon hash functions to improve efficiency. For the virtual machine, he proposed replacing the EVM with a RISC-V architecture and outlined a three-step plan to achieve backward compatibility. This proposal sparked controversy, with the Arbitrum development team advocating for WebAssembly (WASM) as the contract delivery format. Vitalik stated that Ethereum will undergo multiple deep technical upgrades in the future; the state tree reform has entered the implementation phase, while the virtual machine replacement is still at the roadmap stage.

Boros cumulative notional trading volume surpasses $12 billion, launches funding rate arbitrage featureBlockBeats news, on March 3, Pendle's funding rate trading platform Boros has experienced rapid growth since its launch in August 2025. According to the latest official data, Boros has accumulated a nominal trading volume of over $12 billions in just 7 months. In addition, Boros recently launched a funding rate arbitrage feature. This function converts the floating funding rate of perpetual contracts into tradable yield units, allowing users to lock in fixed yields and effectively avoid rate fluctuation risks. It supports arbitrage operations across different trading platforms based on funding rate differences. Recently, the gold (XAU) market even saw weekend fixed yields exceeding 21%, and some strategies can achieve Delta-neutral fixed returns with annualized levels above 20%. Pendle's flagship product V2 has also launched two new stablecoins: Ripple (aRLUSD) and PayPal (aPYUSD).
