Cirrus Logic Stock Performance and Recent Earnings Overview
In the month following its previous earnings announcement, Cirrus Logic (CRUS) shares have risen by approximately 2.2%, outpacing the S&P 500 index.
Investors may be questioning whether this upward momentum will persist as the next earnings release approaches, or if a correction is on the horizon. To better understand the current situation, let's review the company's most recent financial results and the factors influencing its performance, before considering recent analyst and investor sentiment.
Highlights from Cirrus Logic's Third Quarter Results
For the third quarter of fiscal 2026, Cirrus Logic posted adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.97, exceeding the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $2.42 and improving from $2.83 in the same period last year.
Revenue for the December quarter reached $580.6 million, marking a 24.7% increase year-over-year and surpassing company guidance of $500-$560 million. This growth was fueled by robust demand for smartphone components and a favorable product mix. Compared to the previous quarter, revenue climbed 4%, primarily due to higher smartphone shipments. On a yearly basis, sales also grew by 4%, mainly attributed to increased smartphone volumes. The revenue figure topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 8.3%.
The company continued to advance its strategy to broaden its market reach and diversify its offerings. Notable initiatives included introducing a new component for voice-enabled AI PCs, scaling up next-generation amplifiers and codecs for mainstream PCs, and launching new product lines targeting prosumer and automotive sectors. Looking forward, Cirrus Logic aims to capitalize on its extensive intellectual property and engineering capabilities to drive ongoing growth and long-term success.
Business Segment Performance
Since 2021, Cirrus Logic has reported results in two main segments: High-Performance Mixed-Signal and Audio.
- High-Performance Mixed-Signal: This segment, which includes select non-audio products, accounted for 41% of total revenue in the third quarter, with sales rising 12.8% year-over-year to $236.2 million.
- Audio: Revenue from this segment was $344.5 million, representing 59% of total revenue, and saw a slight decline of 0.5% compared to the prior year.
Profitability and Expenses
The company's non-GAAP gross margin narrowed to 53.1% from 53.6% a year earlier, mainly due to anticipated price reductions. Cirrus Logic is working to counteract these pressures through cost-saving measures and greater operational efficiency.
Non-GAAP operating expenses for the quarter were $133 million, near the upper end of the company's forecast. This figure rose by $5.3 million sequentially, largely because of increased employee-related costs, though lower product development expenses helped offset some of the rise. Year-over-year, operating expenses increased by $3.8 million, driven mainly by higher personnel costs and, to a lesser extent, professional fees, partially balanced by reduced product development spending.
Non-GAAP operating income reached $175.1 million, a 3.7% increase from the previous year, while the non-GAAP operating margin edged down to 30.2% from 30.4%.
Financial Position and Cash Flow
At the end of the third fiscal quarter, Cirrus Logic held $822.4 million in cash and marketable securities, up from $564 million at the end of December 2024. Accounts receivable stood at $279 million as of December 27, 2025.
During the quarter, the company generated $290.8 million in net operating cash flow, a significant increase from $92.2 million a year earlier. Free cash flow for the period was $285.7 million.
Cirrus Logic repurchased 591,000 shares worth $70 million during the quarter, and as of December 27, 2025, had $344.1 million remaining under its current share buyback authorization.
Guidance for Fiscal Q4 2026

- Expected GAAP gross margin: 51% to 53%
